Parakeets in a Volvo Shop?

Popular Mechanix may be the only Volvo shop on earth with a walk-in parakeet cage! Andy’s former partner Ed Wolf back in 1985 decided that he needed a hobby to keep himself busy so he built an aviary in the shop and bought a few parakeets. When he left the business in 1992, he left the birds to Andy.

Over the years, the birds have mated, laid eggs and produced baby parakeets. Some have gone on to parakeet heaven and some have escaped to join the flocks of wild parakeets in San Francisco’s Dolores Park. Today, there are about 20 yellow, green and blue parakeets chirping greetings to customers when they bring their cars into Popular Mechanix. Popular Mechanix wouldn’t be Popular Mechanix without the parakeets. Although the birds don’t generally have names, Andy recalls one they named ''Fang'' because of his long beak. Today, E.J. and Jon look after the birds. Ok, here are some parakeet jokes:

Why did the parakeet pass away? He had a ''canarial disease.''
Why did the vet refuse to see the parakeet? He was ''untweetable.''
Why did the parakeet have to be isolated from his girl friend? He had ''chirpies.''.....That’s all folks.
